Dr. Asogwa earned his medical degree at University of Port Harcourt Medical School, Nigeria and received Master of Public Health degree (MPH - Medical Epidemiology) at Loma Linda University, California. He completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at Richmond University Medical Center, Staten-Island, New York and fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, an affiliate of Case Western University, Cleveland, Ohio. During his Adult Psychiatry residency training, he was the winner of Academy of Medicine Richmond Annual Residents’ and Fellows’ Research Paper Competition (2017).
Dr. Asogwa is Board Certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) both in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a member and a fellow of America Psychiatry Association (APA). He is also a member of American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), American Medical Association (AMA), and American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP).
Dr. Asogwa has clinical interest in childhood trauma, neurodevelopmental disorders, psychotic disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, cross-cultural psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychopharmacology. As the Clerkship Director, he is committed to resident and medical student education as a mentor and clinical supervisor.
